Two
unequal height rental apartments have been placed along Main
Street, offset so as to permit a vehicular drop-off court in
front of the buildings.
The two
buildings are linked to a common core to act as a single
building and share common recreation facilities at the ground
level. The elevational difference between the streets
surrounding the project enable garage access at the rear
street level without a ramp thus removing substantial
vehicular movements from Main Street.
In
response to its downtown Brampton context, the building has a
two storey podium with some retail functions which tie it to
the existing buildings along Main Street. The two-tone brick
is indigenous to the area and matches the brick used for the
church on the opposite side of the street. The distinctive
mansard like rooftop lowers the apparent height of the
building to proportions appropriate for its location.
